Movie : Pranam Kosam

Director : Kinslin

Genre : Romantic-Action Thriller.

Fox Star India and AR Murugadoss Productions continue their successful association. After the huge success of “Journey”, Murugadoss brings out another fresh new film. “Pranam Kosam”, originally title “Vatthkuchi” in Tamil, is the directorial debut of Kinslin, AR Murugadoss’ protege.

Pranam Kosam Off the screen:

The films lead cast comprises of Deliban, Murugadoss’ brother and Anjali who starred previously in “Journey”. Apart from the lead cast, the film boasts of a stellar supporting cast including Saranya Ponnvannan, Sampath Raj, Jayprakash and Jagan. The music has been scored by M Ghibran. “Pranam Kosam”, is a romantic Action Thriller, that follows the tale of Sakthi, an average auto-driver. Sakthi manages to get caught up in a series of extraordinary situations. However, unlike any traditional hero, Sakthi manages to deal with these situations employing his wit and practical knowledge. Sakthi is hunted by different groups of people who all want him dead.

Pranam Kosam On Screen:

The movie gives us a peek into the lives of the blue-collar employees of our society. The practical problems and sensibilities of today’s lower middle-class are portrayed excellently. Sakthi is a share auto driver, who is in love with Meena, who lives in the same neighborhood. Meena craves for a better lifestyle and attends English speaking classes. Meena decides to call herself ‘Leena’ in order to appear more stylish.

The screenplay is light and romantic right from the start. However, the dark underbelly of crime is revealed as the film progresses. Deliban delivers a stand up performance as Sakthi, the rugged auto driver with a heart of gold. His brooding and strong presence is obvious throughout the movie. However, Deliban could have done a lot more with the role given the emotional range of the character and the amount of scope it had. Nevertheless, Deliban’s debut is not to be ignored at any cost.

Anjali gives another notable performance, much to the joy of her fans. The light-hearted Meena/Leena is a joy to watch on screen. The comic exchanges between Anjali and Deliban were a treat to watch. Saranya Ponnvannan has established once again that she is an expert when it comes to playing the chatty mother character. She plays this character to extreme perfection.

Music by Ghibran is very catchy. The audio of the movie has already proved to be a huge success. Especially, ‘Amma Wake Me up’, has found a lot of appreciation from female fans.

The film begins in alight mood and picks up furious pace in between. However, the pace and momentum of the story did not translate into the screenplay. The handling of the script in certain places reflects the inexperience of Kinslin. The slow motion shots have probably been used a little too extensively. However, Kinslin displays that rare spark of brilliance in his portrayal of the protagonist. The narration is tight and the dialogue reflects deep thought. Overall, ‘Pranam Kosam’ is a brilliant film with an awesome offbeat concept. The film will surely grab your attention and provoke some thought. Make sure give it a watch.

Verdict: A brilliant film. Must watch.
